Mt. Rainier National Park/瑞尼火山国家公园

Time: July 26, 2005
Place: Mt. Rainier National Park, WA

Mount Rainier(14410 ft/4392 m) is an active volcano encased in over 35 square miles of snow and ice. It can be seen from 150 miles away, and makes an appropriate design for Washington's license plate, since it's visible from such a large chunk of the state. Looming over Seattle and Tacoma, sometimes above the layer of clouds, Rainier has an overwhelming presence like that of few other peaks in the world.

I followed a 10-hour day trip to Mt. Rainier offered by Gray Line of Seattle to enjoy "a feast for the eyes". The bus stopped at several scenic lookout points shortly before arriving at Paradise, world-famous for its glorious views and wild-flower meadows. Though I got only an hour exploring trails, it's a worthy trip since it's included in my Go Seattle Card.
